Songs You Have to Hear Before You Go Deaf

Well the tittle might be (a little) too extreme. By reading that some of you might think I'd write down a list of phenomenal songs from Queen's era to One Direction's. The truth is, no. I just wrote that because, let's be honest, it sounds catchier than 'Songs I Love' right? Anyway, this post is gonna be a random list about some favorite songs of mine that's been accompanying me through everything lately. Some songs might be about happiness, friendship, courage, and falling in love while others are about mending a broken heart, giving up, and pain. Some songs might make you want to jump all around yet some other songs make you want to just lay on your bed and stare at the ceiling.
Ed Sheeran - Kiss Me
"Yeah I've been feeling everything.  From hate to love, from love to lust,  from lust to truth.  I guess that's how I know you. So I hold you close to help you give it up"

Hellogoodbye - Oh, It Is Love
"We'll be holding hands once again. All our broken plans I will mend. I will hold you tight so you know  it is love, from the first time I pressed my hand to yours, thinking, 'Oh, is it love?'"

Ingrid Michaelson - Be Ok
"Open me up and you will see, I'm a gallery of broken hearts. I'm beyond repair, let me be, and give me back my broken parts"

Kris Allen - No Boundaries
"You can go higher, you can go deeper. There are no boundaries above and beneath you. Break every rule 'cause there's nothing between you and your dreams."

The Maine - Whoever She Is
"She could be money, cars, fear of the dark. Your best friends or just strangers in bars. Who ever she is, who ever she may be. One thing's for sure, you don't have to worry."

Glee Cast - Lean On Me
"So just call on me brother when you need a hand. We all need somebody to lean on. I just might have a problem that you'll understand. We all need somebody to lean on."

He Is We - Blame It On The Rain
"Tell me does she look at you the way I do? Try to understand the words you say and the way you move. Does she get the same big rush when you go in for a hug and your cheeks brush? Tell me am I crazy, or is this more than a crush?"

My Girl Friday - Love Will Find You
"To whom it may concern, good love will find you someday. But if you keep on looking for it, it will only keep you waiting. To whom it may concern, good love will find you someday. Till then live well, live happy, and live free."

The Cab - Living Louder
"'Cause we're all just kids who grew up way too fast. Yeah the good die young but the great will always last. We're growing older, but we're all soldiers tonight."

Alanis Morissette - I Remain
"I'll keep it to myself. My irade eye swim in my head. Your charm can not distract me from the path I'm born to tread."

Sleepless Nights

It's kinda hard to believe. Finally, after struggling for a couple weeks in this mean place people usually call school, here I am. You might think after being away so long now I'm gonna have a lot of stories to share with you. And yeah I do have a looot of stories and thoughts, but if pointless things about how tired I am of school things don't count, then I have nothing. Well almost nothing (since it's pretty obvious I'm gonna share something with you guys right now).

I just had my two-weeks-final-exams. I don't know how long it usually takes in your place, but in my hometown, two weeks is quite a long time. It has some benefits actually. While some other students in other schools take two until three tests per day, we only take two maximum so it basically gives us more time to study and focus. But still, some of us had sleepless nights. Or at least not sleeping until 2 in the morning and already has to get up at 4.30. This kind of days are the ones that make me feel thankful of all the songs in one of my playlists. And yep, that's the thing that I wanna talk about here. I'm calling it 'Sleepless Nights' playlist.

The songs in this playlist are the ones who've been my best friends during my crazy nights. They're slow enough to keep you relax and focus yet upbeat enough to keep you up at night. There are a lot of them. But here, I'm just gonna write 15 favorites of mine.

1. Bombay Bicycle Club - Always Like This
2. Blueboy - Always There
3. Remy Zero - Fair
4. Band of Horses - The Funeral
5. Phoenix - If I Ever Feel Better
6. The Weakerthans - Left and Leaving
7. Frou Frou - Let Go
8. The Summer Set - Old Mexico
9. Arctic Monkeys - Reckless Serenade
10. Andrew Bird - Sovay
11. Belle & Sebastian - Step Into My Office, Baby
12. Iron & Wine - Such Great Heights
13. The Summer Set - Where Are You Now
14. Tegan and Sara - Where Does The Good Go
15. Bonnie Somerville - Winding Road

Whether you're facing your final exams, finishing your projects, or just anything that makes you have to be awake until late night, listen to these songs. If you don't have this kind of playlist, then these 15 songs can be a good start. If you already have one, then they will be a great addition. It would be great too if you can share with me your favorite songs that's best listened at night or just simply anything - don't even have to be songs- that usually can keep you up at night.

I hope you enjoy this playlist.

Cenat Cenut? Oh Yeaah!

Check out my guest post at Scenic Glory here

----

Hello everyone! I haven’t been blogging for so long since I’ve been kind of busy with school. That means I had no time for blogging and also, there was nothing worth blog about in my life. But you know what? There’s finally one thing to talk about here. And that is about...

THE DOWNTOWN FICTION, HEY MONDAY, AND A ROCKET TO THE MOON Live in Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta, on May 14th 2011!

Yep, I was there. I went there with my friend, Daniya, and met some more friends there. We were so excited that we arrived there about 2.15 pm and guess what? There were already many people there. I was like ‘Gosh would we make it to the front row?’ and turned out, we didn’t. But the good thing is I still got the almost-center-of-the-stage spot on the fifth row. And at the end of the concert, I made it to the center-of-the-stage spot on the third row. Weird thing is, I wasn’t even trying to get there. The crowd was just so crazy that I was pushed and pushed until I got that better spot. Lucky me! :)

The first band who showed up on stage was The Downtown Fiction (TDF). I’ve heard about them since like 8 months ago or so, after I watched JakJam2010 concert. There were some admins of TDFIndonesia who gave pamflets about that band, then I downloaded their songs, and I liked it. Then a couple of months later I heard that they were going to come and I was like 'man how could it happen when some bands I've been longing to see since a couple years ago haven't come yet?!' Anyway, how was the concert, you ask? That was sick!! Not only because TDF rocked the stage (and the fact that their vocalist and guitarist, Cameron and David, looked soo cute and adorable), the crowd went super duper crazy and made me feel kinda sick. Well I guess that’s what happen at a concert of a band whose name of their newest album is ‘Let’s Be Animals!’. The crowd acted brutally just like animals. Lesson learned. Haha :p

Cameron Leahy <3

Their performance was great, but it got a lot better when Cameron said ‘Terima kasih Jakarta! Cenat-cenut? Oh yeaah!’ I laughed so hard haha. ‘Terima kasih Jakarta!’ means ‘Thank you Jakarta!’ and I can’t really tell what ‘Cenat cenut’ means, but it’s from the lyrics of an Indonesian band, SM*SH, which is currently famous here. So it really cracked Indonesians up. Also, he said ‘Unyuu!’ which is another word that I can’t explain to you, but believe me, if you’re an Indonesian and you heard them saying that word, you’ll go ‘WHAAT? HAHAHHA!’. Cameron also said ‘I guarantee you, we would never forget this night!’ Woohooo!

The second band who rocked the stage was Hey Monday. This might be the performance I enjoyed the most because the crowd acted normally. Sure we jumped on their upbeat songs but it’s totally normal, right? I really like it when the the atmosphere turned mellow when they played ‘Hangover’, then all of a sudden there was only Cassade, the vocalist, on the stage and she gave us some love tips. It was cute. And what’s best is, after the tips, she sang my favorite song of their band that I never thought they would sing, which is ‘6 Months’. Oooh I love that!

Cassade Pope

And one important thing you have to know is, the touring member of the band who played bass, Chris Gentile (yes he’s from the band Rumour Has It), is so freaking gorgeous!

Chris Gentile <3

Then it’s time for the last band to perform. This last band is the one I love the most so I was pretty excited. I guess most of the people who watched it agreed with me, cause by the time Hey Monday left the stage, the crowd went crazier than ever that me and a lot of other people on my row felt down just like cards. You get it, right? Thank God when the band, A Rocket to the Moon, showed up, the crowd seemed to agree that we were there to enjoy the show, so we acted normal again.

Their performance is the best of all. I stood there only two people away (if the gap between the first row and the stage isn't counted) from Nick Santino whose smile is so overwhelming. He seemed so pleased to be there.

Nick Santino <3

And Eric Halvorsen looked super cute. Oh my baby Halvoo! He said 'Aku cinta Jakartaa!' which means 'I love Jakarta!' and I just wanted to say 'we love you too!'

Eric Halvorsen <3

At the end, I feel so happy. I just watched three awesome bands performed and they were totally rocking it! It would have been a lot better if after the show I waited long enough so I can met them again when they greeted the fans, but it was still awesome. I didn't take any pictures there because I didn't bring a pocket camera and my phone was running out of battery. Yeah I know, silly. Another silly thing is, I don't have a converse so I always wear a flat shoes everytime I watch a concert (I speak like this as if I have been to a lot of concerts while actually this is only my third concert haha). What's sillier is, I wore my brand new soft pink shoes and after the show it looked like this

Well, it was worth the fun! :D

P.S : All of the concert photos were found at arditop's flickr, the man behind FotoKonser.com

25 Minutes

Today, when I got so bored at school, I borrowed my friend's iPod. Then I found some songs I used to listen everyday but have completely forget about. Those songs are mostly from Westlife, Backstreet Boys, and Michael Learns to Rock. I bet you do know those groups right? They were so popular back then. And after I listened to their songs again today, I realized, they really deserved to be popular. They produced music with great quality.

Most of the musicians right now create songs just to increase their songs quantity without giving a deep thought into their songs. Most of the songs are easy and fun to be listened, but the lyrics are.... rubbish. I have to admit that I love the new songs too. But honestly, that kind of songs will stick in your brain for a while but then you will be bored and find some new songs instead.

But those three groups I heard again today, they really show their emotions in their songs. Their lyrics are so beautiful and make you think. Old songs also have beautiful melodies. No matter how often you hear their songs, you will always like them.

So, now I just want to share you one of my favorite songs from those three groups. It's a song about a boy who just decided to tell a girl that she was the one. And when she finally met that girl, she told him that he was too late. Well, just listen to it by yourself. You might have heard it already, but what's wrong with listening to a great song one more time, right? So, enjoy this song, 25 Minutes by Michael Learns to Rock.

Lyrics :
After some time I've finally made up my mind
She is the girl and I really want to make her mine
I'm searching everywhere to find her again
To tell her I love her
And I'm sorry 'bout the things I've done

I find her standing in front of the church
The only place in town where I didn't search
She looks so happy in her wedding dress
But she's crying while she's saying this

(*)
Boy I missed your kisses all the time but this is
Twenty five minutes too late
Though you travelled so far boy I'm sorry you are
Twenty five minutes too late

Against the wind I'm going home again
Wishing be back to the time when we were more than friends

But still I see her in front of the church
The only place in town where I didn't search
She looks so happy in her wedding dress
But she cried while she's saying this

Repeat (*)

Out in the streets
Places where hungry hearts have nothing to eat
Inside my head
Still I can hear the words she said

Repeat (*) twice

I can still hear her say

So, what do you think? Like it? ;)

Some Days

a song by Action Item

Take another picture off of my wall
Take it all down and throw it all
We've been building up to this for so long
Some days you can't prepare for

I've been holding my tongue
Holding back every word
Everything we used to have is all gone
Some days you can't prepare for

Some days I feel the world moving slowly
But it seems like I go nowhere
And some days I think I'll never get through it
But I know I will, some days

Now I'm breaking my back
Find a reason to end everything
Forget whatever we had
One day could change anything

And I don't know if the sun will ever come back out
Whatever we were, that day changed everything

Some days I feel the world moving slowly
But it seems like I go nowhere
And some days I think I'll never get through it
But I know I will, some days

I can't believe the difference a day makes
It hit like an earthquake
I can't believe I put my heart out
It rained like a storm

One day can change everything

Some days I feel the world moving slowly
But it seems like I go nowhere
And some days I think I'll never get through it
But I know I will, some day
Some day, some day, some days

Okay, I'm crying now. I'm feeling so low right now and this is exactly the kind of song I can relate to.

Click here to see their myspace profile and hear some of their songs. Or here to download the full album from itunes. But in case you want free download (just like me :p), you can download this song here from 4shared.

Another Band of the Brothers

Can you guess what's that? The answer would be.... THE SUMMER SET!

Well, not all of this band members are brothers. Actually, from five of them, there are only two persons who are brothers. hahaha :p And they both are my fave :D

The Summer Set consists of brothers Stephen (bass) and John Gomez (guitar), in addition to Josh Montgomery (guitar), Brian Dales (vocals), and Jess Bowen (drums) [FYI this Jess here is a girl. Yep, a girl drummer]. This band formed in high school. Their mission is to inject a sense of optimism back into the music scene. Jess said "“We sat down the very first day we started our band and realized that there was a lot of negativity in the music scene, which was depressing. We just wanted to bring a positive vibe.”

They've released 3 EPs and one full-length album titled Love Like This.

You see those two boys on the front? Yep they are John (wearing the glasses) and Stephen (eating the ice cream) Oh boys, have a show here please!

Here is the review of The Summer Set from 411
The Summer Set is a band that doesn't have any delusions about what it's hoping to create: fun, catchy, frothy, pop music. Some people may complain that this is cause to label Love Like This another product of easily forgettable ear candy for the teen masses. However, the genre shouldn't necessarily be cause for dismissal. Love Like This does have it's clunkers, as well as its successes. If you're in need of feel-good music, The Summer Set provides an instantaneous solution.
For more info about them, click here.

P.S : I just edited my layout. Hope it's for the better. :)

The Song I've Been Listening To Lately

It goes to... Amy by Allstar Weekend. Here's the lyrics

Set on this girl and I just can't show it.
I'm taking my time 'cause I don't wanna blow it,
But I can't get her out of my mind.
She looks one way and I look another.
All my friends say "Please, don't bother."
But I can't see the truth when I'm blind.

I know it's real

The older that I get,
The less that I regret,
And baby, it's 'cause of you.
Since the day we met,
You know I won't forget,
That baby, my Aim is true.

Oh Amy, A-A-Amy
You've changed my life.
Oh Amy, A-A-Amy
You make everything
Alright
A-A-Amy

She smiles like a new sunrise.
Her funny laugh was so surprising,
But I can't get her off of my mind.
She lights up a room like a full moon shinin'.
I try to look cool,
But she's not buying it
'Cause girls like these are so hard to find.

I know it's real

The older that I get,
The less that I regret,
And baby, it's 'cause of you.
Since the day we met,
You know I won't forget,
That baby, my Aim is true.

Oh Amy, A-A-Amy
You've changed my life.
Oh Amy, A-A-Amy
You make everything
Alright

Now I've made up my mind,
And I'll move mountains to be with you.
I'm done taking my time,
And in the end,
I always knew
(Always knew)
Always knew

The older that I get,
The less that I regret,
And baby, it's 'cause of you.
Since the day we met,
You know I won't forget,
That baby, my Aim is true.

Oh Amy, A-A-Amy
You make everything alright.
Oh Amy, A-A-Amy
You've changed my life.
Amy, A-A-Amy
You make everything
Alright

I know the lyrics is kinda cheezy, but I think it's sweet. And do you know one big reason why I love this song? Because the word 'Amy' and 'Ima' are kinda similar. Haha ga juga sih cuma gue aja kali ya yang kepikiran. Tapi gue jadi suka ngebayangin setiap kata 'Amy' disini diganti jadi 'Ima' jadi ya... gue seneng! Hahahha :p

A Week Later

Wow. it's been a week since my last post. It certainly means something : I HAVE A LIFE! :p There were so many things happened. On Monday and Tuesday, I went to Anyer with X-G, wohoo that was fun! I'll post about it later when the pictures have been uploaded to facebook. Then on Wednesday, I went to school buat bantuin distribusi BT terus gue pergi ke GI with Riri, Nisa, and Fira and we watched The A-Team. I'll post about it too later, maybe. On Thursday, I went to school again. And Yesterday, I went to Jakarta Book Fair and I bought many books. One of them is even Architectural Digest Magazine January 2010 edition, well I know it's late (that's why it's on sale right?' tapi kan yang penting the issue is about 20 greatest designers of all time. Yippie!!

Anyway, on Thursday night, I watched 'Kris Allen Live in KL' and I freaked out. Gosh I love him so much, dan sampe sekarang masih sebel karena Om Adrie Subono nolak Kris Allen untuk manggung di sini abis dari KL -___-

There are so many things to adore from him. He's cute, adorable, and funny. He's talented especially when he plays his musical instruments. He respect women. You can see it by the way he looks at his wife. He loves her so much and he said he is 'married to the coolest chick around'. Maybe I could die if I was his wife haha. He loves his fans. He smiles all the time. He's so genuine, down-to-earth, and he sings from his heart. He loves his fans. He's so charming, and he doesn't even know it. He was shocked when he knew that he won American Idol. He didn't realize that he has so many fans around the world, including me :) He looks good even from back up :p There are still many other reasons to adore and love him. But one word that can describe the whole reasons is, he's Kris Allen, that's why I love him. :')

I can't talk much right now because I need to clean up my room and read all those books I bought yesterday. So... bye everyone! Love Kris or you'll regret it (???) :p
